Many times, icons are more useful than images for specific usage, bringing down the overall burden of the memory wasted for handling fully-fledged images. For almost all possible conversions of images into icons or vice-versa, Image2Ico is a resourceful application, which supports a wide range of image formats including the Windows bitmap formats like .bmp, .rle, and .dib, and also the CompuServe Bitmap .gif format, along with the usual standard JPEG Bitmap formats like the jpg, jpeg, and the jpe formats.
Image2Ico offers support to Windows Icon (ico), along with the latest Windows Vista icons, as well as Portable Network Graphics .png format and the Windows metafile .wmf format. Coming to the size of the icons, Image2Ico is capable of handling virtually any icon size right from usual 16x16, 24x24, 32x32, 48x48, 64x64, 72x72, 96x96, down to the 128x128 formats.
This software is basically a suite of programs featuring Bmp to Ico, Gif to Ico, Png to Ico, and the Jpg to Ico tools. It reads and writes 16 colors, 256 colors, and supports TrueColor and the XP-Style 32bpp icons, and comes with built-in image processing options as well. |
